About the Louisiana Scholastic Press Association

The Louisiana Scholastic Press Association (LSPA) reaches out to all Louisiana high schools to take part in our annual competitions each school year, providing for an exchange of ideas, workshops and team building. These annual events showcase live writing and broadcast competitions with our LSPA Fall Invitational, as well as yearbook, newspaper and broadcast competitions awarded during our LSPA Conference. High school students compete across the state for trophies and recognition. Our two events allow students to meet others with similar interests in mass communication. The LSPA Fall Invitational is focused on live writing and broadcast competitions, and the LSPA Conference includes workshops and professional speakers giving high school students a better understanding about the ever-changing world of mass communication.

LSPA is housed at the LSU Manship School of Mass Communication. Participation is open to any Louisiana high school teacher, advisor and/or student involved in the high school newspaper, yearbook, television, radio or any digital communication entity.
