Departmental "Plan of Study" forms are superseded by the Workday Student's "Academic Plan." The old forms are provided for informational purpose only.

Instructions for Removal of Advising Holds

Create/Update Your Academic Plan in Workday Student

  • Log in to your Workday Student account.
  • Navigate to the Academic Planning section and create or update your academic plan according to your degree requirements. Be sure to include ME 7901 (required each semester if full-time), as well as ME 8000 / ME 9000 research if full-time status is needed during the Fall or Spring semesters.
  • The academic plan should be filled out at least one semester in advance.

Review Academic Plan with Major Professor

  • Once your academic plan is ready for review, schedule a meeting with your major professor to discuss it.
  • Review and update the plan as necessary to ensure that all coursework is correctly listed.
  • Discussions of completion of milestones and progress towards graduation form an integral part of these regular advising sessions.

Major Professor Requests Removal of the Advising Hold

  •  After reviewing and approving your academic plan, your major professor must email gradmie@lsu.edu.
  •  The email should include a request to remove the advising hold on your record.

You must have your advising hold removed before you can fully register for the Fall and Spring semesters. Once the hold is lifted, you can register for classes using the "Register from Plan" button appearing on the Academic Plan page in Workday.
