Communication Coaching
Whether you need help with a course assignment, want to improve your communication across cultures, or are looking for feedback on a personal statement, our Communication Coaches are here to help.
Communication Coaches are able to meet 1-on-1, either through Zoom or in person, to help you address your concerns in real time. Coaches are available for written, spoken, visual, technological, and intercultural communication support.
If your schedule doesn't work with any of the available sessions, you can submit your work-in-progress for asynchronous review and receive feedback from one of the Communication Coaches.
Note: We do accept a limited number of walk-ins based on coach availability, but scheduling an appointment in advance is the best way to get what you need.
Visual Communication
Coaches assist students with developing a personal and consistent visual style for posters, slide decks, and other visual aids.
Spoken Communication
Coaches assist students with developing clear spoken communication for presentations, talks, and other spoken projects.
General Undergraduate Writing
Support for undergraduate writing projects and coursework in all disciplines. Examples could include lab reports, literary analysis, argument, and more.
Specialized Undergraduate Writing
- Personal Statements: Receive coaching on writing personal statements and statements of purpose for scholarships, graduate programs, and more.
- Science Writing: Receive coaching on writing lab reports, research proposals, etc.
Undergraduate ESL Writing
Coaches assist undergraduate students whose first language is not English with a range of writing projects and coursework in all disciplines.
ESL Presentation Support
Students whose first language is not English receive coaching in developing clear spoken communication for presentations, talks, and other spoken projects. Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.
ESL Conversation Practice
Students whose first language is not English receive coaching in developing clear spoken communication for class participation or general conversation. Available for both undergraduate and graduate students.
Intercultural Communication
Students receive coaching on how to engage with people in or from other cultures.
Audio Visual Consult
Undergraduate students receive coaching in planning and executing a media project using cameras, recorders, editing software, or other AV gear.
Portfolio & Web Design
Students receive coaching in designing and creating personal websites and portfolios, including LSU Distinguished Communicator public portfolios.
