Rose Guillory Pointer joined the LSU COMD faculty in January 2021, as a Clinical Instructor in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic and the LSU Preschool. In addition to being a Clinical Instructor, in the Fall of 2021, she is also acting as a Professor in the COMD Department. She is an active member of the Baton Rouge Area Speech Language and Hearing Association, Louisiana Speech Language and Hearing Association, and Speech Pathologists and Audiologists in Louisiana Schools Association. She is also a member of the National Charity League, Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is trained in the Lindamood-Mood Bell Program.
She has 26 years of experience in evaluation and treatment of pediatrics in the NICU, acute care, private practice clinics, and outpatient settings, as well as adults in acute care, outpatient, and skilled nursing care settings. Rose has also worked as a Rehabilitation Director in Skilled Nursing Facilities for more than 10 years. She has worked closely with radiologists in hospitals to perform videofluoroscopic swallowing studies in pediatrics and adults. She has supervised CFYs their first year out of graduate school and SLP-As in the school system. She has worked as a clinical instructor at Southeastern Louisiana University and Southern University. She has supervised students from LSU and LSU Medical Center in off-campus clinics. Rose has provided intervention for adults and pediatrics with rare syndromes, neurological, progressive, and developmental disorders. She has provided intervention in early language, feeding, school-aged speech/language, sensory integration, autism, fluency, developmental disabilities, voice disorders, aphasia, motor speech disorders, dysphagia, and traumatic brain injury rehabilitation. She has participated and been an active member of interdisciplinary treatment teams, patient/family education and training, and interdepartmental staff training. She currently supervises pediatric speech and language evaluations and therapeutic intervention for pre-school and school-aged children with articulation, phonology, language, and voice disorders; supervises an SLP-A in the EBR Parish School System; provides evaluations and treatments to elementary and middle-school aged children in the local schools.
